Giving Zakat to Your Family Members |

Zakat should be distributed to all 8 asnafs (recipient categories), however one could include his poor family members in the distribution.
Giving your Zakat to MUIS will ensure that your Zakat is properly distributed. But should you wish to apportion some of your Zakat to your family members, relatives or neighbours who are rightful recipients of Zakat, you may do so under the following conditions:

The recipients are rightful for Zakat.

Only a part of your Zakat is given to them.

Give the rest of your Zakat to MUIS-appointed collection centres to be distributed to the other rightful categories.
The dalil is is Surah Al-Isra' verse 26. Allah s.w.t says “And give to the near of kin his due and (to) the needy and the wayfarer, and do not squander wastefully.”
The amount or portion should be at the giver's discretion, bearing in mind that the other categories should also receive their part of the Zakat.
